Learning and Development

Here at Titan Tots, we believe children learn best when they’re having fun, so our magazines are packed with exciting pages featuring your child’s favourite characters. Each magazine covers all six of the learning areas described below, which support your child’s development to ensure they not only have fun but the best start, too!

The six areas of Learning

My World | Get Active! | Make and Do | Caring and Sharing | Talking, Reading and Writing | Problem Solving

My World

This area is all about your child discovering the world around them – their world.

Your child is experiencing new ideas, situations, places and people every day so they’re sure to have lots of questions. Being able to find simple answers to these questions will help your child to gain confidence in their world.

The Titan Tots titles help your child make sense of their world by relating what they see in the magazines to their own life and daily routine. Perhaps their favourite character is finding out about recycling, or discovering that different countries have different flags, or that people do all sorts of jobs?

Being able to form relationships and relate to others is an essential skill that will help your child throughout their life. By giving your child a sense of self worth, an understanding of what is right and wrong and the ability to understand and respect others, this important skill will develop.

Through stories and activities, the Titan Tots titles explore the different situations and emotions your child might encounter. They encourage your child to question what they think is happening, how a character is feeling and what they might do in their situation.

This area is all about communication and helping your child to be a successful communicator.

Discovering new things every day means your child has lots to communicate. Encouraging an enjoyment of reading, helping with handwriting skills, and having fun with rhymes will all help your child to gain the skills they need to communicate their understanding of their world.

Reading the stories together in the Titan Tots titles is a great way of making reading fun. The questions at the end encourage your child to talk about the main elements of the story and the simple activities help them explore and identify letters and words.

This area is all about numbers, identifying patterns and developing mathematical ideas.

Developing an understanding of simple maths, and the vocabulary to go with it, will help your child when they move onto more complex ideas at school. Encouraging your child to count, sort and match the objects around them is a great way of building simple maths concepts into every day life.
